Concept: “Necunoscutele” is a necessary project – it’s the story we want to tell our children.
It’s about a distant land where forests were dense, waters ran clear, and a magical world called Romania existed. In this world lived unknown women with indescribable strength and genius. They were pioneers – the first in Romania, Europe, or even in the world to work in fields previously reserved only for men.
The first volume of “Necunoscutele” shines a light on three women who made history: the world’s first female neurosurgeon, Sofia Ogrezeanu; the first female university professor in art education in Europe, Cecilia Cuțescu Storck; and Romania’s first female aviator and the world’s first war correspondent to write reports from an airplane, Elena Caragiani Stoenescu.
These are poetic stories for young children and older ones alike – stories of culture, education, values, and inspiration.
5% of the profits will be donated to the Ringier Romania Foundation to support the humanitarian campaign “Care for Newborns,” part of a broader project to modernize and support hospitals in Romania.
